Scudding across the sky, driven by a bitterly cold north wind, the gathering clouds announce that Winter is here, even though the official date for the season is a couple of days away. Don't let those glimpses of blue sky fool you; there was an impending ice storm in those clouds.

Yep, those clouds most certainly look threatening. We're expecting a foot (or two!) of snow tonight and tomorrow, according to latest estimates. Yikes!

Mannanan: No... no foot of snow in a day here, or at least not very often. The last big snow we had like that was back in the 80's. We're more likely to get ice here, which is what came last Monday and Tuesday.

I love clouds like those! What a beautiful photo! Our sky was similar today, and it made me wonder if the weather people knew what they were talking about when they said freezing rain and snow was expected. They canceled the ice, but we did get some this evening anyway.
