"... and Evening Gray,
send the travelers on their way."
send the travelers on their way."
The photo above was taken just before sundown on Tuesday evening. It was an almost colorless sunset. Wednesday morning dawned bright and clear, and we had sunshine all day -- perfect for traveling. Perhaps there is something to the old saying, after all.

We've had mostly gray days here too. I still like your picture. Spring will be here soon!
ReplyDeleteSo where are you planning to travel to today now that the skies are sunny and clear? Don't forget to take your camera!
ReplyDeleteThat looks very cold and depressing.
ReplyDeleteOur days were a bit like that here too, but the sun is shining this morning, snow coming in by the end of the week.
That's one reason I love winter, Pat.. You can see the sky through the trees. Once Spring gets here---you won't be able to see as much of the sky.
ReplyDeleteHaving the leaves off of the trees is also good for birding!!!!
Great winter shot.
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful photo! Not one of those hysterically colored sunsets you see so often (and always are beautiful too). I like this more subdued one. Maybe the old sayings are more often right than the new computergenerated weatherforecasts. Who knows?
ReplyDeleteThat's an 'old' saying 'new' to me, thanks. I shall keep a lookout to see if it works in UK.
ReplyDeleteLove the silhouette, Pat. It looks so menacing.
ReplyDeleteGlad the storms Monday didn't get you like expected.
A gentle sky and a lovely lattice of branches.
ReplyDeleteThe trees are so beautifully outlined against the grey blue sky. It's a great photo.

ReplyDeleteGreat gray sky photo. I agree with the others that gray skies can indeed my impressive, just in a more subdued way.
ReplyDeleteColorless it may be but still adds so much emotion in this photo. The tree branches made this photo! Happy swf!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard that version before. Where I was born we used to say Red sky at night shepherds delight..next time I'm making a trip I'll look for a grey sky.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of color works well with that tree. It is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shot as always Pat, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I love all kinds of sunsets. Yours looks particularly wintry. I'll call it silver - sounds a bit dressier.
ReplyDeleteLeave-less trees can make the most interesting patterns, as you have clearly shown.
ReplyDeleteLove the angle!
ReplyDeletegray is beautiful, this is a perfect example.
ReplyDeleteNice grey sky thru the trees, great shot.
ReplyDeleteGray can be beautiful, too. And I think I see just a hint of lavender in there... ;)
ReplyDeleteDid you get any of the storms over your way on Tuesday night? Enjoyed your picture. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. =)
ReplyDeleteI really like this shot! The branches in silhouette - a little mystic - and quite calming to watch!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like something out of one of those scary movies.
ReplyDeleteI love the poem with the perfect picture. I did something similar on my blog today, too.
ReplyDeleteSo do you have some plans to travel now, too?
Take lots of pictures!

Beautiful photo, Pat. I just love bare branches against the sky, even if its colorless. I traveled on Tuesday and it was a perfect day for that here, too. Happy SWF!
ReplyDeleteSkies are gray where I live also. Your picture is very nice though. I guess the sky can't be robin blue everyday huh?
ReplyDeleteThanks for having me
Allison
Seems that most of the northern hemisphere evenings are grey at the moment. But soon spring and summer will come around your way again and the winter will creep down here to us.
ReplyDeleteYour photograph is great and I think the branches of the trees compliment it beautifully. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, nice tones and contrasts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat picture - very wintery.
ReplyDeleteGreat picture, love the b&w look the dim light has given it.
ReplyDeletevery lovely in all the subtle colors!
ReplyDeleteI love your gray sky!! Such a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very fine evening picture. Quiet and restful.
ReplyDeleteLike the way the tree is silhouetted Pat - nice shot.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice we can find beauty in the monochrome gray, because we have so much of it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture, if it is a bit grey...but that's been the way of our days here, too.
