Sky Watch

"... and Evening Gray,
send the travelers on their way."

The photo above was taken just before sundown on Tuesday evening. It was an almost colorless sunset. Wednesday morning dawned bright and clear, and we had sunshine all day -- perfect for traveling. Perhaps there is something to the old saying, after all.

Sky Watch was created by Dot and expanded upon by our retired friend Tom. This weekly theme post is brought to you by Klaus, Sandy, Fishing Guy, Ivar, Wren, and Louise. Visit the Sky Watch Friday home page anytime after 7:30 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time on Thursdays to see sky photos from around the world. You'll be glad you did.

  1. We've had mostly gray days here too. I still like your picture. Spring will be here soon!

  2. So where are you planning to travel to today now that the skies are sunny and clear? Don't forget to take your camera!

  3. That looks very cold and depressing.
Our days were a bit like that here too, but the sun is shining this morning, snow coming in by the end of the week.

  4. That's one reason I love winter, Pat.. You can see the sky through the trees. Once Spring gets here---you won't be able to see as much of the sky.

Having the leaves off of the trees is also good for birding!!!!

    Great winter shot.

  5. Beautiful photo! Not one of those hysterically colored sunsets you see so often (and always are beautiful too). I like this more subdued one. Maybe the old sayings are more often right than the new computergenerated weatherforecasts. Who knows?

  6. That's an 'old' saying 'new' to me, thanks. I shall keep a lookout to see if it works in UK.

  7. Love the silhouette, Pat. It looks so menacing.

Glad the storms Monday didn't get you like expected.

  13. I hadn't heard that version before. Where I was born we used to say Red sky at night shepherds delight..next time I'm making a trip I'll look for a grey sky.

  16. I love all kinds of sunsets. Yours looks particularly wintry. I'll call it silver - sounds a bit dressier.

  28. Skies are gray where I live also. Your picture is very nice though. I guess the sky can't be robin blue everyday huh?

  29. Seems that most of the northern hemisphere evenings are grey at the moment. But soon spring and summer will come around your way again and the winter will creep down here to us.
