Today's Flowers - June 21

Addition to Lily Collection

While browsing around a new (to me) plant store this past Monday afternoon, I found a beautiful day lily, the like of which I did not have in my collection. Of course, it came home with me, and now resides in the best lily bed.

This lily has no name, only a designator: H14. A hybrid, this lily was created by the Flying V Greenhouse in Henderson, Texas and, I'm convinced it was shipped up here to Miller's Plants and Pecans (We Crack Pecans) in North Little Rock, Arkansas especially for me! LOL!

Since I acquired it, it has given me three big blooms, and has 12 more buds on the stems. I love it!

I haven't spoken with the hybridizer, yet, so I don't know how he feels about giving names to his creations, but this one is just too pretty to remain "H14." I'll let you know what I name it.

What a lovely flower. To be nameless and so beautiful seems really sad (mind you, some of the best hymn tunes seem to be by "Anon"!). The H14 hybrid label may also cause hysteria, as it actually becomes possible to confuse the poor thing with H1N1, or "swine flu"!! Something must be done... A name is desperately needed!
Thanks for posting the photo. I love the little yellow ruffle around the velvety looking petals.

Absolutely a gorgeous lily Pat! I love all flowers. My little yard keeps acquiring more and more. I will run out of room eventually!

This lily is gorgeous! Your lily collection certainly has opened my eyes to that family of flowers.

Seems like its purplish color beacons the word "Royal" in a name.

She is beautiful. Am constantly amazed with the variety you come up with. I have got to dig deeper into the lily field.
Can it have two names? How about
"Ruffles and Flourishes" like the music to announce a head of state. I love the delicate ruffles.

I think you should name it "Pretty Pat"! It's beautiful.

I know you weren't asking for suggestions, but they're coming through anyway. ;) I like Pat's Purple Passion. 'Tis indeed a bautiful flower.

That is a beauty, Pat. I haven't seen a daylily quite like that one. It should be named "Pat"----in honor of you.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

I love this lily. I have a new favorite and I want one. I'm not good at names but when it is named I hope it matches its blossoms. I'm catching up on past posts. I love the squirrel pics. LOL

Gorgeous lily - and a pity it doesn't have a name! Peters comment about that made me laugh - he really has a great point!

But a great shot of this vibrant lily!

Have a nice Sunday!

It's so beautiful. Yes, the H name reminds me of swine flu. Good luck with the naming.

Pat, the lily is gorgeous! I'm sure it ended up in your hometown so YOU could give it a proper name!
