A Wussy Day

I wussed out of my Cardiac Rehab exercises this morning. A chronic muscle/ skeletal problem which has nothing to do with my heart rears its ugly head from time to time. This was one of those days.  I am not a believer in the "no pain, no gain" philosophy. At my age, if it hurts, I don't move it any more than absolutely necessary.

I will spend the day is less strenuous pursuits, one of which is preparing for my annual Christmas card Stamp-a-Stack that will take place this coming Saturday afternoon. I think I can cut paper and tie ribbon knots without too much physical stress. (You didn't think my having a heart attack would keep me from stamping, did you?)

It's a beautiful Fall day here, with temperatures expected to be in the low 80's.  I've opened the back door so the cats can go in and out, an activity they enjoy a great deal.  They don't stay out very long at a time, coming back and forth to check on me.  Missy has already returned and is currently sitting on my lap, purring her favorite melody.

I now have only two cats.  Squeak. my loving 12 year old male, developed  non-operable lymphoma earlier this year and quickly wasted away.  He died  in May, and is buried in one of his favorite spots in my back yard.  Missy and Sweetie Pie took his absence fairly well, although they looked for him for several days.  They also completely quit eating the canned cat food which they had previously shared with Squeak.  As long as he was eating it, they couldn't wolf it down fast enough. The morning after he died, they would have nothing to do with it --- Nada. I had to throw away an entire can of food.  I gave the rest of my cat food stash to Gardening Daughter who supports a herd of cats that will eat almost anything.   Ah, well.  It saves me a little money not having to buy both dry and canned food.

That's about it from this part of the world.

Tomorrow is also a day.

Sorry to hear about Squeak. I added another kitty to the mix, Mina. She's a hoot! I'm with you -- if it hurts, don't move! So delighted to "see" you!

Too bad about Squeak. We too are having an "Indian summer" day. I took advantage of the warmth to roll up the garden hoses. Hope you continue to be on the mend!

Dear Pat,
It was so good to receive your recent comment on my blog, and to be able to be in touch again. I did wonder if you weren't well when your blog went private for a while. Life certainly has unexpected twists and turns. How good that you were where you were when you had a heart attack! Sorry about Squeak, I know only too well how fond we can get of our feline family members. Interesting the way the other two cats responded. We had a bit of a scare with Nigella Stopit a week and a half ago when she became very ill, but a trip to the vet and antibiotics has her back full of health again.
Anyway, must go and do some more work glazing pots.
Love to you from all of us here,
P,L,NS and Gxx

Sorry to hear about Squeak. Pets can involve in our lives so much. We have five dogs buried in our backyard, along with one daughters cat. Also asst. hamsters, gerbils, Guinna (spelling) pig and birds.

I know what you mean when something hurts, you just want to rest it. I've been having in my hip so bad, I just have to remember and set down and prop up feet now and then to rest it.

Hope you'll feel better and have a great week-end.

Bless your heart,Pat. Pain is NO FUN... BUT--I'm glad you are well enough to go to your stamp event. That is AWESOME.

Sorry about Squeak.. I know you miss him --even though there are two other sweeties left.... It's always hard to lose a pet..

Take care ---and God Bless.
Hugs,
Betsy

I so agree with your 'if it hurts, don't move it' philosophy. I recently knackered a knee, gardening, and began by the 'exercise it' route. It was a no no. A whole day not using beyond the minimum, set it on the path to recovery much faster. Listening to what our body tells us makes a lot of sense!
