"D" is for DitchedWe had a torrential rain about dawn this morning, and the flood relief ditch that runs between the neighborhood park and a housing subdivision was deep with rapidly moving water. A late afternoon visit to the area found the water level significantly lower, with more than a few pieces of trash caught in the weedy undergrowth. As I looked into a patch of weeds near the bridge on which I stood, a piece of footwear caught my eye. I couldn't help but wonder how it came to be in a place where it could be washed away, and from how far upstream it might have come. Someone is missing what looks to be a perfectly good, if currently waterlogged, left boot.

Must have been quite a frog-drowner of a rainstorm. We rarely get rain like that in Utah.

Does make you wonder where is the other boot. Same way if I see one shoe on a street or a highway,I wonder, did the person get hit and knocked out of their shoe? Did they set them on the top of the car, drive off and it fell off? You can always take that boot, fill it with dirt, plant a pretty flower in it and set by your mail box.
I agree with Patty: what happened to the boot? Where's the other one?
Afraid my first thought was that there is probably a body wearing one boot further upstream.
Pat, Glad you didn't get the flood waters in your home... We are in a 'watch' now---waiting for that same storm. We've had HUGE winds today--up to 60 mph. Yuk!!!!
Guess someone will need to buy some new boots --unless they find that one.

I often wonder how items like perfectly good shoes and boots get lost! There's a story behind that boot, for sure, but we'll probably never know what it is.

Gee..that boot looks in pretty good shape. Last time we had a flood a canoe ended up along the pond edge..
