Squirrel vs Bird Feeder

Squirrel spies...

...new bird feeder.

How's the best way to approach this?

Whoa! This conical top is slippery!

Maybe this way?

Or, this way.

Not working. Let me try again.

Ah! Success!

Cute story, Pat. Our squirrels and chipmunks drive me nutty... I don't want them in the bird feeders... SO--it's a constant: "Get outta here!" ha ha

GiVEAWAY on my blog today only. Pass the word.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy

They are such cute, pesky little critters. Mr. Dragon made a bird feeder that so far, after 2 years, has been squirrel proof. It isn't very pretty, but it gets the job done. I hope to catch the squirrels at the bird bath today ... camera ready!

What wonderful shots of the squirrel eating from the feeder...Li'l rascal! My daughter's Mother-In-Law has the feeder that spins and spins and spins the squirrel off when the squirrel gets on it. It only takes one spin to 'cure' the squirrel...
He feels like he's had a ride at an amusement park...and is NOT amused!! He now sits and looks at it....wishing...but dares not get on it. Thank you for the lovely post.
Smiles,
Jackie

Great pictures! I dislike those dastardly squirrels. They are why I have no bird feeder.

However, I've lost so many trees, I may try again.

Luckie trys to catch squirrels but so far they all escape. Chipmunks arfe another story.

Hi Pat I just stopped by from Jackie's blog! I loved your squirrel photos. When we had this problem, we bought a squirrel feeder and put across from the bird feeder. It worked pretty well. Now they just eat my plants!

I'm from Jacki's blog...we have squirrel problems too...stove pipes around the base of the poles work for us. We've had them jump almost 20 ft. from over hanging tree branches.

I love this! But then, I am very partial to squirrels. I think it's the way they stand up and point so wistfully at their narrow little chests when they want something.

They drive me crazy. They eat Everything and leave nothing for the birds. I tried hanging the feeder on a long string and I hear them dropping from limb to the feeder. I can't get ahead of these smart little creatures......

He so earned that snack. I just love the acrobatics. You captured and told it perfectly. :)

A super series of photos, Pat! When it comes to getting food out of a bird feeder, I think a squirrel is one of the smartest animals on the planet.
