Daylily
My day lilies are about to come to the end of their blooming season. I still have a lot of flowers showing, but the new buds are getting fewer and fewer. The blossom shown above is one of two different varieties my sister sent me several years ago. The lilies, whose names of course I do not know (shame, shame on me) came from Wayside Gardens. This one has a purple throat, the other is a bright coral. They have really been prolific bloomers this season, thanks to all the rain we had in May. I've leaned that water, water, water, is the key to getting blooms. I don't know what I'm going to do for flower posts when the lilies are all gone; they are about the only blooming plants in my yard!

Hello Pat, I have enjoyed your wonderful flowers and reminisces. This Daylily really seems to fit the idea of the drawing to a close of the flowering season. She is beautiful, but her beauty has also the look of a Great Aunt about her with the ruffles, lines, and creases. Her whites only manage ivory shades, with just a hint of pink, and her purple glory is displayed with some care and modesty. She would be nice to drink tea with, a companionable soul, and yes, we would have to mind our manners and sit up straight!
It's been a busy day again here, with packing up the exhibition. I'll be up to my ears in paperwork for the business for the next few days, rather a contrast to the feel of clay and creativity! Ah well, it has to be done. Glad that you have bounced back again after the nasty flu. P.
My Daylilies too are about finished...but the canna abound as only canna can...my pictures are posted...I love snapping their beauty for all to see!

When talking to my daylillies, I never mention yours. Don't want to hurt their feelings. I really do need to expand my choices though for next year. You have opened my eyes.
A beauty! What a unique color combination, too. I never knew such a lily existed.
Have a pleasant Sunday, Pat!
Looks a tad like a pansy!
I'd say shoot some wild flowers, but they are about gone, too.
In a few weeks I'll have some "surprise lilies," a.k.a. naked ladies, a name I love to type for shock value. <:~D
I have another variety that blooms in September, too.
You can't kill these things.
I've enjoyed your daylilies, Pat. Wayside Gardens is one of my favorite catalogs. Such wonderful eye candy! Thanks for sharing your garden with us. Hope you are making a full recovery from your bug?!!!
I thought I had the name of the daylily you showed today, Pat. BUT--it's a little different from ours. Ours (similar) is called Custard Candy--but it has a yellow trim around the outside instead of that burgundy one. Oh Well---they must be cousins!!!! ha
Beautiful daylily.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Pat,
Interestin flower, specially the colors. It seems to be 'Old' for me.

Unique colors! I really like this one.
My daylilies are only beginning to bloom.

I have never seen a Daylily with those colors! So different and beautiful! Looks like it is made out of cardborard!

Just beautiful. Those colours are amazing!
My Day Lilies are in bloom finally, but I've never seen a blossom colored like this one. It's lovely ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
so very special Sandy
Your lily is gorgeous. That coloration is stunning.
Lovely shot.
Beautiful!!
I never knew there were so many different day lilies. This is beautiful.
How big a garden do you have, Pat? You seem to have spotlighted a huge amount of flowers here!
Hi Pat, lovely photo of your lily. I don't think I have ever seen that color combination before. It is truly beautiful.
I think we do have the same daylily in our garden. It's called Daring Deception. We didn't get it from Wayside Gardens, but I know that several firms sell it. We won't have many daylily blooms after this week, either.
It's beautiful. I love the green throat with the purple.
