Today's Flowers - July 19

One of my new Tropicanna canna lilies has graced me with a flower. It's the only one, of the six lilies I planted, to have a bloom, so far. I'm hoping that all of them will mature enough to bloom before summer ends.

I bought the lilies more for their foliage color than for the flower, but I do like its bright orange. It's a perfect accompaniment to the leaf colors.

I love and miss cannas as they are not nearly so common here in Oregon as in the South.

aOh Pat that is really lovely. I have seen these in catelogues and always wanted some. I agree, the foliage is actually as beautiful as the flower!

Well---even if you don't have more blooms yet, this one is gorgeous. Hopefully the others will wake up and bloom soon.

Have a great Sunday.
Hugs,
Betsy

I would be very happy to see this one bloom. Just shows how much patience we need to see them mature, great photograph!

Great picture of a beautiful plant.
Just be a little bit more patient and you'll see the other cannas blooming as well. Hummingbirds love them as well.

Lovely shot, Pat. When I was a kid, our garden had a huge, wide, long bed full of cannas.

I'm really glad for selfish reasons that you posted this. I've been wondering if it was normal that my cannas haven't bloomed, . . . but since your seasons are ahead of mine, i feel reassured. I love the color of this one.

I would agree about the foliage. I'm crazy for bright colors especially orange. The leaves have fine details, and you did well with the shot, both the flowers and the leaves.

Arija said...

Oh so beautiful! The striped leaves are stunning but the flower certainly overhadows them. Nice shot.

I haven't tried my hand at growing canna lilies...they are beautiful...maybe I should try.

I like that specie too! We call that at home, 'saging-saging' because of its banana like-foliages.

I made this long time ago.

Good morning from Down Under.

Are the petals always floppy, like a hound dog's ears?
