I had to rescue a baby mockingbird this past month....3 times. Mother bird built the nest so that it was tilted. Three birds left the nest, but one was a little "late" leaving...and when it would stick its neck up to see if Mama was there with something to eat, it would fall out onto the ground. I put it back. Next day, it fell out again. I put it back. Next day...same thing. So, before putting it back the last time, I "fixed" the nest. It worked like a charm. The little thing staying in...Mama fed it...and it finally left the nest. I would have been heartbroken to know that something got the little thing, but I also know that those things happen in nature. Still....it tugs at our heart, doesn't it. Sending you gentle hugs.... Oh, my! How sad. Some days Mother Nature can be so unkind.
Oh I hate when that happens! blessings, marlene
I do hate that also. Right now my Robin's nest that was quite active has gone silent and it was too early for fledges. Nature can be harsh.
Sorry to hear the sad news. I've become very attached to some things in nature, myself, so I understand the feeling. Better days ahead, of course!
Awww sorry to hear it, Pat. I just now saw the image in the previous post. Nature can be cruel.. in our eyes.
