Today's Flowers #2 - Post 59

Triple-Layer Day Lily

This stand of day lilies in my garden was started from a single fan given to me by my husband's sister-in-law in 1970. I brought a few of the plants to my present home when I moved here in 1990. There are about 60 separate plants in this one bed at present; I'm sure I will have even more when I divide them in a month or so (a long overdue job). Before the digging and dividing can begin, I have to prepare new flower beds to receive them, not a task I look forward to since the soil in my yard is mostly heavy clay. I have a lot of work ahead of me.

Today's Flowers is a new weekly Meme, posted each Monday, which was created by Luiz Santilli, Jr. and may be found here. Please visit to see others' lovely flower photos. If you have a flower photo of your own to share, please join us.

What a beautiful flower, and what a nice story behind. Interesting that you can divide them and then grow your own plantation ;)

A very nice looking lily. I just noticed a yellow lily opened here yesterday. It is a freak thing as the lilies have been out and are nearly down to brown leaves now. I don't know why this one popped out.

Thanks for looking at my picture and for the compliment about my early photography.

If you go to my new blog. It is called Sendai, Japan, you can see two photos that I took in 1954 or 1953. I forget.

Sendai, Japan

Then there is another new one, you can find it when you click on my name. It is called Dances on Sunshine. Still a long ways to go but it is about photo composition and things like that.

This is a lovely daylily! I grow daylilies too but I believe you can grow many more varieties on the South than we can in Canada. Very nice.

I haven't seen a day lily with three layers! It is beautiful! Day lilies are such reliable bloomers aren't they.

Those are so pretty. I have never seen anything quite like these well other than normal lilies. And I love the soft colors of these.

Well, I went over and joined Luiz Santilli Junior's flowers group and planted some flowers and they are already in bloom at my new blog, Thunder Maker.

It looks like I am going to have to try and catch up with everyone. Your flowers are beautiful.
