Photo Hunt #148 - Bridge

Big Dam Bridge

Murray Lock and Dam
Kerr-McClellan Navigation System, Arkansas River
Little Rock, Arkansas

I posted last summer about the Big Dam Bridge, so I won't go into a lot of details here, but you may read that post, if you're interested, by following this link. Pictured above is another photo I took on the day of my visit. At 4,226 feet long, Big Dam Bridge is the longest pedestrian/bicycle-only bridge in North America.

Additional information about the bridge may be found on Wikipedia.

Photo Hunt is the brainchild of tnchick. For other interpretations of this week's theme, or to play, pay a visit here.

How neat that there's a bridge that long for pedestrians and bicycles only. I don't think I've seen a structure similar to this, but I sure like the idea.

Wow, that's one impressive looking bridge and how great it's only for people and bikes, you don't have to worry about cars and trucks. Love the simple name it has. Now a kid can go home and tell his Mom he was at the Big Dam Bridge. LOL

The bridge looks a bit scary but before I read the information, I thought it was for cars. Nice picture and good information. Thanks.

That water looks very uninviting; stick to the paths folks.

Dam! I'd love to walk that Big Dam Bridge! I even love to say it! LOL.

Seriously, I'd love that challenge! I enjoy biking and walking in the summer- going to bike paths and trails... this would be a real treat! I bet the view at the top is magnificent at 65 feet!

Nifty 'take' on this week's theme and interesting info shared about the bridge too. Thanks for the link. I shared 'bridges' at both Sacred Ruminations and Happily Retired Gal this weekend.
Hugs and blessings,

Interesting post...I went back and read the earlier one also. They were talking about building a pedestrian bridge across the Wabash River down in Terre Haute...it won't be near as big as the Big Dam Bridge.
