All Is Well Here, For the Present, Anyway

We had a very bumpy, tornado/lightening/thunder/torrential rain-filled night.  The lightening display was incredible, and lasted for hours.  There was no reported damage in my town other than tree limbs down, that I've heard of, but terrible damage and several fatalities in other Arkansas communities, two of them relatively nearby.  I ask your thoughts and prayers for the families affected, especially those in Scotland, Arkansas, a small community in north central Arkansas where the fatalities occurred.

I emptied my rain gauge this morning. I don't know what the exact amount of rainfall was on my property since the gauge was full and running over. It measures approximately nine (9) inches, and was completely empty yesterday afternoon.  It's raining hard, again, but only sporadically.  The weather bureau forecasts another band of storms moving through the state during the day. I hope it's just rain, this time.

More, later.

Glad you are okay, Pat. I sent you an email last night asking about you... We are on our way to the beach and the tornado watch is now out for TN. Hope we have a home to go home to next Sat.

Hugs,
Betsy

It really was a bumpy ride and I thought of you and my Arkansas blog buddies. So glad you are OK. It was so sad about the fatality.
No damage here. Am feeling blessed.

I've been praying that all's well with you and yours! Glad you are okay. 9 inches of rain - our yearly average is 12. Stay dry and safe!

I can hardly imagine so much rain in such a short time. A storm like that, especially with all the lightning, must be very frightening. When the earth shakes, or if their is a huge storm, we really can discover just how frail our toehold on life is! I was so sorry to hear that there were fatalities.
I have twice been camping in a tent when there has been a thunderstorm. One time was up in the mountains, and it was quite something to hear the crack and roar of the thunder reverberating amongst the hills. The lightning made me acutely aware of the aluminum poles that were holding up the tent!
I do hope that the next lot of storms that you mention heading your way, haven't been so severe. Thinking of you, Peter, Laura, and Ginger the Cat xx
