Said the Spider to the Fly.

I discovered this Orb Spider (9/24/08 correction: not an Orb Spider, but an Argiope aurantia, commonly known as the Black and Yellow Garden Spider, Writing Spider or Corn Spider) lurking among the leaves of my day lilies, waiting for some tasty (to her) little bug to wander into her "parlor." She stayed here for several days, until the rain from Hurricane Ike destroyed her web. I've not been out to the garden yet to see if she's rebuilt it.

I like it! Love the black against the green:)Mine is here. Happy CC!~
Shes beautiful and what a strange web.
My Camera Critters is here
We have two that look like her sisters in our tomato plants. Have a great week-end.
Look at its markings, wow.
My leg got bitten by a brown recluse in Arkansas, so I'm not a big fan of spiders.
I hope she rebuilds. Spiders are amazing creatures.
This is a very good shot, very sharp. Hopefully is she able to rebuild her web. Have a nice weekend!
She's pretty as far as spiders go. *lol*
Great shot! I had a black widow that insisted on building her web between the side of the house and the gas meter. I'm okay with spiders...as long as I know where they are! LOL
A 'sewing spider' I call those. Doesn't it look like a zig-zag stitch?
Marvelous image!
What a wonderful capture! Thanks for sharing. Mine’s up at Small Reflections … finally.
Hugs and blessings,
Wow. I don't like spiders, but she's beautiful.
Great picture! I think I'll stay away, though.
oooh! good photo (but i do hate spiders... they scare me!)
Great shot!! Very unique!!
That is one scary looking spider. Pretty, but scary.
Rather you than me. Great catch
Great shot. I really like spiders, they are fascinating creatures.
I like the Orb Spider. Beautiful photos of both spider and web!
I've watched that type of spider a lot. It's amazing to watch them make their web and also how they wrap up a critter that gets caught in it before they can get away.
So amazing - part of it looks like a strand of DNA!

That's nice looking spider!
Very handsome creature. Orbs seem to have the looks, even here.
Great capture! They build so interesting webs!
Well done!
Have a great weekend!
Cheers, Klaus
strangely lovely sandy
Such a good shot of the spider!
This is my favorite kind of spider, and I miss seeing them. Thanks for sharing yours!
These spiders are gorgeous, aren't they? I love their colors. Great capture of it!
I love that spider quote. hehe I used to say it all the time.
Neat close-up photo. Impressive!
I have similar garden spiders in my home garden too. This look like an Agiope sp.of some kind.
Cool capture, Pat!
I saw one of these in the bushes at the post office the other day and wonder what kind of spider it was. Thanks for the picture and the information.
Oh, a fascinating spider and web photo! Good job, Pat! We have these black and yellow arachnids living in the weeds around here, too.
She has a GREAT looking web! Love these spiders, just not on me. :)
That's a wonderful shot. A little creepy but so well captured. :)
I should have written the genus of the spider as Argiope
