Sky Watch - The Morning and the Evening

Christmas Day Morning

The skies were full of contrails; the ethereal reminders of aircraft coming and going. In my imagination, each plane was filled with happy travelers, making a last minute journey in hopes of being at home with their loved ones on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day Evening

Skies overcast with a tiny bit of the soon-to-be-setting sun coloring the undersides of the clouds with the barest hint of gold. A peaceful end to a special day.

Sky Watch was created by Dot and expanded upon by our retired friend Tom. This weekly theme post is brought to you by Klaus, Sandy, Fishing Guy, Ivar, Wren, and Louise. Visit the Sky Watch Friday home page anytime after 7:30 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time on Thursdays to see sky photos from around the world. You'll be glad you did.

That´s a good pairing. I like the thought of planes filled with happy people.

I like the fact that you posted the morning and evening sky. Such a beautiful blue sky. But, until evening are those snow clouds moving in?

Thanks for visiting and leaving such a nice comment on my blog. I noticed in your profile we like some of the same movies and music. I also like a good mystery to read. But, I like soft mysteries, nothing to graphic. Just kind of like trying to guess who done it and why.

Happy 2009!

Gramma Ann Nope, no snow in those clouds... at least for us. It's almost 60 degrees here today, although it was cooler on Christmas Day, only in the 40's.

Hi Pat, thanks for visiting my blog. Sounds like we both loved Baba Yaga tales as young ones. I read her stories in 3rd grade and would pretend for hours that I lived in her chicken legged hut in the forest. Do I have one, lol? Only in those long ago memories.

A criss cross sky makes it very interesting, lots of traffic up there! A softly, softly Christmas sky, beautiful. A very happy New Year to you too, Pat.

The skies keep changing all the time, but they are always interesting and sometimes beautifully coloured too.
I wish you a very happy new year!

2 fantastic shots, I think I like the 2nd best, for its dark skies.

That trail in the sky was left by Santa's sleigh.

Beautiful pictures, Pat. Interesting how the skies made such a change during the day. We had sunshine and warmer temps yesterday--but rain today!!!! FUN!!!

What variance in your morning and evening skies. That happens here a lot too. Thanks for visiting my Sky Watch at Sacred Ruminations. I also shared Sky Watch photos at another blog, so I'll use it to sign in here ... just because.
Hugs and blessings,

Wow, Pat it looks like a highway up there. The last time I saw anything like that was over Lesotho, in the thin mountain air. Have a great New Year.

The fun thing about skywatching is the variety of different skies you can see in the course of a few hours, let alone a full day or week.

Thanks for joining us once again.
