This wisteria has been growing in my back yard for over 15 years. I planted it in the far back corner, thinking that it would put its runners on the fence and spread out. I was so right! At the height of the summer, the runners from the main trunk reach over 20 feet from the trunk. However, the older branches have become intertwined in the chain link and are a real mess to look at in the winter when all the leaves are gone. It's hardy, though, and is one of the first plants to bloom in the Spring. Also, it has a lovely fragrance, and I like to snip clusters of the racemes and bring into the house for a bouquet.

I love wisteria. I think I have just the place for some! :D
Wisteria is pretty--but I don't care for its strong fragrance much.. Guess --if there were some nearby, I'd get accustomed to that smell. It's strong like Honeysuckle--and I like Honeysuckle.
Have a great day, Pat...
Hugs,
Betsy
How I'd love to have some trailing round my humble abode! Lovely photo...
Oh my Pat, how perfectly lovely. I know you must love it when it's in bloom and so fragrant to bring indoors to perfume the house! Such is the joy of spring!
Wisteria are some of my all-time favorites!!! Gorgeous shot! Love this! ~Janine XO
A beautiful flower! Love the blue fading to white! Or the opposite!
I'm still waiting on mine to bloom...it is getting closer. My mom's wisteria was huge. It ran from one end of her front porch all the way to the other end...don't you just love them?
Lovely..one of my favorites..not shot here-
Fantastic flower you have here. I've just posted one in my blog. I am the "guest friend" today. The flowers you saw in "Today's Flower" are wild flowers from the rocks in the river Douro, north of Portugal. The second shot is a olive tree with it's flowers. Thanks for your visit.
There is nothing more romantic than wisteria cascading over a trellis!
Love this flower!

Hi Patti,
Me too, I have put a flower.
Yours is beatiful, Good shot!
Your wisteria is just beautiful.I love it but in other peoples yards best as it can really take over. The end result does justify its few problems though. Lovely.
Pat ~stunning color...as gardens age they are like an old friend!
Wisteria can be so beautiful and the fragrance is delightful. I like the purple best. MB
I would try to write a poem, but the only word I can think of that rhymes with "wisteria" is "hysteria"....
Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Just beautiful, Pat.
Wisteria, they're lovely!
Lovely photo! We have two in our garden on Cape Cod. One climb on a dead tree, now fell down. One is on the front poach. I have to cut it back every year and it keeps on growing. I am afraid that it will eventually damage the house and have to cut it down someday.
Hi, Pat
Very beautiful and delicate,love.
Hugs
