Dainty Bess Rose

Family: Rosaceae
Genus: Rosa
Hybridized by Archer; Year of Registration or Introduction: 1925

Almost every year, the first rose to bloom in my garden is a Dainty Bess rose that is 20 years old.  I planted it in a bed along the south wall of my home in the spring of 1991, and it has been a reliable bloomer every year.  If it holds true to its performance in years past, it will bloom three or four times before frost.

I like it for its single layer of petals and its sweet true pink color.

I hope you're having a lovely weekend.

Tomorrow is also a day.

That is so pretty, Pat; it is almost like an English Dog Rose. x

This is a beautiful rose (I love the color) and the fact that it blooms fairly early makes it doubly special.
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

This is a simple beautiful rose. With my yard renovation I have only shrubbery. I still have some Naked Ladies which were not in beds, but everything else is gone. This is expensive but eventually I will be relieved about appearance.

I sat on council for 6 years listening to gripes about citizens and the appearance of their neighbor's yards. sometimes I thought the finger needed to be pointed back to the complainant.

I may buy an everlasting rose bush, that blooms all year.

The time as come for us to simplify our landscape and clean its appearance up, especially the front yard.

I will be in LR April 25-27 seeking advice from Dr. Blake Norris about pulmonary ablation. Right now my medicine is working perfectly.

Dainty Bess looks so sweet. Is she also thornless? What a charming little friend to have in the garden!
Happy Easter to you!

Pat, I had no idea you have been sick until you left a comment on my blog today. I thought you were still on your trip to South Texas with your daughter. Get well soon! You are missed in Blogland.
