Yet Again, 1999 Books Read

(Dover clip art)

Books I read in April, 1999:

Goose in the Pond - Earline Fowler
Pope Joan - Donna Woolfolk Cross
Eater of Souls - Lynda S. Robinson
Twenty Blue Devils - Aaron Elkins
Blood Line - (audio book) - Sidney Sheldon
The Water is Wide - Pat Conroy
Flower Net - Lisa See
Numbered Account -  Christopher Reich
Blood Work - Michael Connelly

Cozy; historical "fiction?"; ancient Egypt;  forensic anthropology; intrigue; non-fiction; mystery; intrigue; thriller. I do enjoy a wide variety of subject matter.  The links under the books' names will take you to Amazon.com (with which company I am associated in no way whatsoever.)

My books in progress are listed on the side bar of my blog page. I'm finding the Edgar Allan Poe a bit daunting. His work is 'spookier' than I remember, or perhaps I've just become more tender as I've aged.

I'd welcome the opportunity to learn what you are  reading right now.  Why don't you tell me about it in the comments section?

Tomorrow is also a day.

Do you keep a list? I am not sure what I read last week.
Right now I am reading "The End is Now" by Rob Stennett. I got it while it was still a freebie on kindle and am enjoying it a lot. I don't know how to catagorize it. It is a fictional account of a "test" rapture in a small Kansas town. Sometimes amusing, rarely preachy, but so far, quite enjoyable. I would read this author again.

I had read only one book on your 1999 list: The Water Is Wide by Pat Conroy.

I am currently reading a hardcover book that I purchased for 79 cents at the local Salvation Army Thrift Store a few days ago: Letters of Distinguished Musicians: Gluck, Haydn, P.E. Bach, Weber, Mendelssohn (translated from the German by Lady Wallace), published in London in 1867. A first (and, I imagine, only) edition!

I've just bought a copy of Precious Bane, by Mary Webb - it's recently been brought out in a new paperback edition, and I'm all set to go.

Apart from that, I've recently finished the first two volumes of Kathryn Magendie's 'Graces' Saga. :) Roll on the next one...

Hi Pat, How are you? Busy??? I've missed you on my blog this week... I even posted an Arkansas post today... SO--check it out when you get a chance...

I'm not much of a reader ---except for things pertinent to the moment (health stuff, bird info, etc.).... I love to read that kind of stuff --but don't ever just sit down and read a book. I'm just too busy for that... ha ha
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm afraid that I haven't read any of the books you listed.
Right now I'm reading an e-book, Agatha Christie's Secret Adversary. I'm also reading a volume of the Southern Historical Society Papers.
